PSN College Sucks

Written on March 27, 2008 – 12:47 pm | by Sarath D R |

Students from Kerala studying in Tamilnadu and other states are being treated badly by the Management. Behind certain rules they are ill-treating the students and harassing them publicly. Two weeks back one of my friend’s sister, studying in PSN College of Engineering was asked to leave the college hostel by around 7pm by the chairman of the college for questioning a staff’s misbehaviour. She was not even allowed to wait till morning. Eventually she stayed at a relative’s home around 11 kilometres from the college. The college authority refused to give her Transfer certificate and other documents; for that she will have to pay the next year fees. So many students have been facing mental depression and some of them have already discontinued the course. The students are really struggling to complete their courses and they are being treated like prisoners by completely isolating them from outside world. People running these colleges have failed to do justice to the ethos and values of the education system as a whole and are behaving like money lenders. There has also been an incident in the past where a college faculty who resigned from the college was beaten up when he asked for his relieving order.

Kerala government should take necessary action against these and other similar issues faced by the Kerala student fraternity in pursuit of higher education outside the State. We should prevent students from joining such colleges and need an effective campaign to spread awareness about these colleges. It would be better if they arrange a rating system for all colleges so that students can choose the better ones.

When I was searching about this college, found this news link. This news came two years back in Hindu.

The current issue has been reported by Mangalam and The New Indian Express.

Hello shoban this is not the issue between Tamilians and malayalies, please dont misunderstand. Students from both tamilnadu and kerala studying there and they have the same difficulties. All allegations were against the college authorities, not against tamilians. Please take it as in the right sense.

May be now our student organisations will understand the importance of having our own self financing colleges here.

I think still we have enough colleges, but they are campaigning our students and offering fees reduction.

@Shobhan: What is wrong with “Pandi”? It is an abbreviated form of the name of King Pandiyan, the great Tamilian ruler. Mallu jokes and Sardar jokes are very common and enjoyed by all. But you do not see Malayalees or Sardarji’s protesting about the same do you? Even in colleges you have nicknames for friends! So stop taking a regional stance here. No one is trying to hurt anyone and the College is run by Telugus…which again is inconsequential!

Yes, It is truly bad to refer to Tamilians as ‘Pandi’. I am a malayalee and I disgust people who say so. In fact, Tamilians make some of my best friends and they are one of the humblest people.

I wish and I hope they do well whereever they go.

As far as tamil nadu colleges are concerned, its not a new thing. coz these
colleges are mostly owned by political gundas of the major leaders…They just don
want to interfere in these matters and get a black mark..
for eg: an ece student from SATYABAMA deemed uni chennai died last month due to
electric shock form hostel switch board. it was due to the carelessness of the management
no action could be taken against them!!

i am a victim of this issue.pls ask ur friends to avoid such colleges.before choosing an institution it is essential to get details from students studying there. only they will give true comments.

i agree with u man. now itself the college is doing the same thing. they were not running a college. they were installing a money depot there. they were plucking a huge amount from the students. most of the students went to their rest of their life. pls take necessery actions.
